The York Region Gift of Life Association set up an registration and information table in the centre court of the Upper Canada Mall on June 15, 2012 to spread awareness about organ and tissue donaion and to provide the public with an opportunity to register their consent to become organ donors.
Amongst those registering their consent were Newmarket Mayor, Tony Vam Bynen and former owner and founder of the Auroran Newspaper Ron Wallace as well as current editor Brock Weir. MPP Frank Klees and Newmarket Councilor Jane Twinney both registered donors dropped by to show their support.
Mayor Van Bynen and Councilor Twinney have has pledged their supprt in helping the YRGOLA to increase donor registration in Newmarket. One donor can save up to 8 lives and enhance thelives of 85 others

YRGLOA members Denise Macpherson , Bruce Cuthbert and Pilar Antiquera are ready for registrants at the YRGOLA table which operated from 10:00 am until 2:00pm.
